We had a doctor's appointment to check the inter-uterine environment. Everything checked out well except they could not pick up any fetal breathing, an involuntary contraction of the diaphragm. This did not mean he was not breathing or was going to have trouble breathing, just that his diaphragm was not contracting at that moment they were checking. After a non-stress test, the doctor and we decided to induce the next morning! We were so excited and it was nice know that there was a end date, which happened to be my due date. That afternoon, J.P. and I decided not to go back to work so we could run errands in preparation for our baby's arrival. Among everything we were able to accomplish, I was able to get my dress for my sister's wedding fitted, which was Saturday, altered (surprisingly, I could still zip it, it was just a bit short). I went to bed early that night, knowing I was going to need a good rest for the upcoming day.

BIRTH DAY!
We got to the hospital at 7 AM and was induced by 7:30. At about 9:30, I decided to get my epidural before the doctor would come in to break my water. Jack did not like epidural very much, so they had me lay on my side so his heart rate would go back up. As I moved, my water broke on its own! I progressed nicely and we started to push around 1:30 PM.
We welcomed baby Jack (John Steven Price) on April 18, 2012 at 3:10 PM.
He was 8 pounds 7 ounces and 21 1/4 inches long.
He came out with quite a cone head and he was tongue tied, but he was absolutely perfect. J.P. cut the cord and we were able to spend a good hour with him before our families wanted to come in and meet him. It was great to spend that quality time with him and J.P. to bond with our beautiful baby boy. One of our pastors also stopped by to pray with Jack and our new family. Overall, it was a pretty decent experience, I think the epidural helped along with our awesome nurse and doctor. J.P. could not be a prouder dad and he was a great coach throughout the whole day! I could not have done it without his support, humor, and love.
So in love!
Proud father!
So handsome!

This day was filled with Jack meeting with the pediatrician, he got circumcised, and some good mommy and daddy time to bond. We also met with the lactation specialist who was very surprised he was eating so well since he was significantly tongue tied. They decided to wait to get his tongue clipped until we were out of the hospital.
Smiles after a toot!
My grandma and 3 of my aunts came into town on this day for the wedding, so on their way to my parent's house, they stopped by the hospital to meet the first great grandchild. It could not be better timing! They all live in Ohio or on the east coast, so they may not have been able to meet him for awhile if he had come any later.

DISCHARGE DAY!
The morning was a little crazy. We met with the OBGYN, the pediatrician, our nurse, the lactation specialist, and the car seat inspector. We were out of the hospital by noon.
Going home outfit.
Our awesome nurse!
The dogs were really excited to see us and have since done really well with Jack. Rufus leaves him alone and Marley seems to be very attentive and curious of him. They both listen well and are learning the new routine.
As soon as we got home, we did a feeding and I was able to take a quick nap before the photographer came by to take his newborn pictures. He did pretty well and I am excited to see how they turned out. After the photographer, my mom, grandma, another aunt, and 2 cousins came by to see Jack. Later that evening, J.P.'s mom and aunt drove in to bring us dinner and to hang out with Jack.
The first night home went relatively well. J.P. was awesome and stayed up with him until 3 AM, only waking me up to feed, so I could get some rest for the next day. We tried to have him sleep in his room, but he (and I) only tolerated about an hour. It was a lot harder then I expected to leave him in his crib alone.

WEDDING DAY!
This was a very busy day, to say the least. When it was all said and done, I don't know if I have ever been so exhausted! Jack was a real trooper and we managed to keep him away from crowds for most of the day. He came with me while I got ready in the morning and then hung out with J.P. or Grandpa John for most of the rest of the day. He only saw me for feedings. Jack was able to meet the remainder of my aunts, uncles, and cousins and J.P.'s boss, his wife, and kids. The Fundraising U. team got us a portable bassinet that fits in our room so he can sleep next to me. Since we have gotten this, I have slept a lot better! Thanks Mike, Keri, and the Fundraising U. team!
The wedding was gorgeous and went pretty smooth. We are very happy for Cari and Kyle and I am glad that we were all able to help them celebrate this wonderful day.
The beautiful couple.

After a very busy 5 days, Sunday was a welcomed day of relaxation. We had a few visitors where Jack was able to meet his future best friend, Mickey, our friends Erica and Luke, 2 of his cousins, Aunt Krista, Uncle Dustin, Aunt Mindi and Uncle Brett. We also had to say good bye to Grandpa John as he needed to get home so he could work on Monday. He was so much help with the dogs and the wedding. I don't think this past week would have gone so well if it were not for him!

Monday was another busy day. In the morning, Jack had his first specialist/doctors appointment with the ENT to have his tongue clipped. J.P. and I both went in expecting a very traumatic experience that would be hard for both of us to watch, but we quickly found out how much of a stud Jack is. The procedure was to clip his tongue.
*Jack was born tongue tied, where the piece of tissue under his tongue that connects it to the floor of his
mouth went all the way to the tip making it very hard for him to move his tongue forward. J.P. and I both
had this when we were little, I got mine fixed when I was 2 and J.P. got his fixed when he was in 2nd grade.
We both had speech issues because of this, so I am glad they did it when he was so young.
We kept him in the car seat which I think helped to keep him calm. The doctor came in, opened his mouth, took a pair of scissors to the piece of tissue, and then it was all over. No stitches, a tiny bit of blood, and only 1 peep from Jack before he fell back asleep! He is such a brave and good boy!
My sister also left on Monday to head back to Arizona, so they were able to stop by to see Jack one last time.
In the afternoon, we had 2 more appointments, 1 with the lactation specialist and 1 with the pediatrician. They wanted to make sure he was eating okay after his procedure, and turns out he was! He was already back up to 8 pounds 3 ounces and was able to eat almost 2 ounces. They were all very happy on how well he was doing.
After the doctors appointments, we stopped by Target to pick up some things we have discovered were needed after being home a few days. Jack did a great job on his first shopping trip and slept the entire time.
Going to his first doctor appointments.

J.P. had to work a bit on Tuesday, so it was a day of good cuddle and bonding time with mommy and Jack. I was able to cook some meals for the week that way we don't have to worry about it later. My parents also stopped by to hang out with their grandson since they have not had the chance with being so busy with the wedding. My mom even helped my clip his nails so he can't scratch his face anymore.

Jack is 1 week old today. I know everyone says this, but it was gone too fast. He has been a great baby, and is still sleeping and eating really well. Looking back at this week, I can finally process everything that has happened. I am so overwhelmed with love for Jack and J.P! J.P. has been an amazing father and husband and I could not have done any of this without him! I am very excited for our new lives as a family and what the future brings.
