I'm Full Term!

I will be full term as of tomorrow. We had a doctors appointment today, and she said everything is looking good, I am progressing well, and she would "see me next week at the appointment or earlier"!

This past Saturday, we had our child birth class. J.P. behaved himself, so he did not embarrass me! It was actually pretty helpful and we got some good tips for when labor begins. I feel a lot better now that I know what to expect. We have our tour of the hospital on Thursday so we know where to go when the time comes!

We also had my work shower this past Saturday. Diane, Jeff, and Schlyon were the hosts and they chose a Turtle theme. Schlyon calls J.P. turtle because at a work event, J.P. taught Schlyon about the "awkward turtle". It was a super cute theme and they did a great job with decorations. My mom and J.P.'s mom were both able to come, so they were able to meet my co-workers too! We got a lot of great gifts and it was fun to hang out with co-workers outside of work. I really work with some great people!

On Sunday, we bought some of the remaining items on our registry so that we have everything when Jack decides to make his appearance. I also cleaned out my car, installed the car seat, packed my bag, put the car seat adapter on the stroller, and J.P. set up our monitor. We also talked with our wedding photographer and she is going to be doing our newborn photos for us! I think we are ready!

I will finish the blog post with some pictures of the past week or so:

The outfit Jack will hopefully wear for Cari's wedding! Thanks Julie!

My student, Julia, had her last day on Friday, and she made cupcakes for everyone,
but she made a special pregnant cupcake for me! So funny!
Julia is really creative and she hand knit this Turtle for Jack. If you look close, it says
Jack in his shell. It is so cute and we can't wait for Jack to snuggle with it!

Another super cute/creative turtle Diane's exchange student sewed for Jack!
I hope Jack likes turtles and dogs!
Opening presents! J.P.'s first shower!

The hosts and us! Schlyon, Diane, and Jeff!
Thanks for the shower! It was perfect!

The Final Countdown

We have gotten a lot accomplished in the past few weeks!
  1. J.P.'s mom and grandmother threw me a shower in Topeka. It was fun to see all of his family and we got a lot of good things that we needed!
  2. J.P. made me a "push mix" for labor and delivery. I just glanced at the songs on it, but will be waiting to listen to it until we are at the hospital. It looks good and I can't wait to hear it!
  3. J.P. found a BOB stroller on Craigslist and brought it home as a surprise.
  4. My mom came up and helped me organize the nursery and clean all the things that we have gotten at our showers.
  5. I pre-registered for the hospital.
  6. I registered to donate our cord blood.
  7. J.P. hit his goal for his spring sales this week and he still has 8 groups to run! I am so proud of him!
  8. We found a glider/rocker/chair for the nursery, so it is complete! Here are some pictures:

Our new chair, crib, and the valance that my mom made for the room.

The chair with the pillow my mom made and book shelf (a J.P. family heirloom).

The dresser/changing table full of clothes, the closet full of diapers and clothes,
and J.P.'s Grandpa Jack's belt buckles in a shadow box.

As of today, we are due in exactly a month! We have 1 more shower, our child birth class, and a tour of the hospital to get done within the next 2 weeks, then we will be ready for Jack's arrival! I also start weekly doctor appointments this week so we will have a better idea of when his arrival will be! We are getting very excited to meet our little boy!

First Shower and First Interviews

Well I am almost at 34 weeks! It is crazy to think that we are only 6 weeks or less before Jack is here! We get to pre-register for the hospital this week which is making it all the more real. Our last appointment he was laying horizontally just under my ribs, which is super comfortable for mom... He seems to move between that position and head down, so hopefully when labor comes, his head is down. If the doctor cannot tell his position at 37 weeks, we will have another ultrasound to check.

This weekend was very busy. My first shower was on Saturday at my parent's house, thrown by my friends Erica and Danyel. It was a book shower, so everyone that came brought Jack a book instead of a card. It was a great idea, and surprisingly, I didn't get any duplicates. I can't wait to read to our little boy. I also got a lot of cute clothes and toys. It was great to see some old friends and it was a great shower!

On Sunday, we interviewed 5 nanny/in-home day care providers. We had some really good interviews and narrowed the 5 down to 2. We have a few more interviews next weekend, but we are hoping to have our child care provider chosen by the end of the month!
