Paint, Furniture and Christmas

I hope everyone had a great Christmas! We sure did. We were able to spend some good quality time with both sides of the family and we ate a lot of food. Baby Jack even got his first couple of presents! A book and some money for his first bank account. Thank you Grandma, Papa, and Aunt Pam!

I am almost at 24 weeks and am still feeling really good. I feel like I have really exploded in size the past few weeks. J.P. is having a great time coming up with new "fat" jokes everyday, and I think they are pretty hysterical. His dad even got in a few punches during Christmas. My favorite recently was when I was going to work in my red scrubs and his comment was "Don't be offended if someone yells "Hey Kool-Aide" as you walk down the hall." He is such a great husband and always knows how to make me laugh. (I know this all sounds sarcastic, but it is really genuine). I cannot wait to see how great of a father he is going to be!

Jack is also starting to move a lot more. J.P. was able to hear and feel him kicking when he put his ear on my tummy. J.P. really thought that was one of the neatest things ever. I am glad that Jack is kicking harder so J.P. can experience the movement. My parents were also able to feel him move when we were together for Christmas.

The past few weeks we have also gotten some big things accomplished. We went to buy paint for the baby room, which was a bad experience! The lady working the paint counter apparently did not normally work there, which would have been nice to know before we started! We brought our dog photo prints that we had custom done to get color matched. Although it may have been a bit confusing, we wrote down everything to make it easier. Some colors we wanted with primer in it, some without, some in a quart, and some in a gallon. We went to look around (where we did find our rug that goes perfectly in the room!) and when we came back, she did every color wrong. Instead of apologizing, she was very rude and blamed us on her mistakes! We finally got a manager to help us where he told us that they could not color match to paper. We then had to go through all the colors on the walls to try to find the closest match to the 3 colors in the prints, how annoying! We finally found the best match and the manager was able to get our order correct. To make up for everything we went through, we got a 10% discount, so we cannot complain there!

J.P. also went out one day this week and got the pictures of the dogs framed and placed the belt buckles into a shadow box. The belt buckles are from J.P.'s grandfather's collection that he inherited. We picked our 2 favorites: Santa Fe Railroad with Jack Price written on it and the Golden Eagle which was his call sign when he was in the Navy.

We also found a changing table (with drawers) and a dresser that matches our crib! We got both for the amount we were budgeting for just a dresser... thanks Craigslist!

Well that is about it on an update! Hopefully the next post will include pictures of the painted nursery!

Registering and New Clothes

I am at 22.5 weeks and still feeling great. Jack is moving more and more everyday, mostly in the evening. I swear he was doing star jumps in there last night! J.P. has yet to really feel him, so I hope he gives a couple of big kicks in the new future so he gets to feel his baby move too!

We registered today at Target and Baby's R Us. Let me tell you, it is a lot more stressful registering for baby stuff then it was for wedding things. It took us about 3 hours, but I think there is some more we need to add and change. The most stressful part is deciding on the stroller and car seat. There are so many to choose from! We would like a jogging stroller with a car seat adapter, but can any car seat fit into any jogging stroller? Which one is the safest? Which one is the easiest to use? Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated to calm my anxiety!

My mom and I also went on a shopping spree for some maternity clothes. It was a little bit easier shopping for maternity clothes because you don't really have to worry if the clothes make you look fat! Since we are going to Hawaii in a few weeks, I had to find both warm and colder weather apparel. (J.P. earned this trip because he met all of his sales goals for his job!) I probably spent way to much, and true to my form, some clothes have already gone back to the store because I changed my mind. I also had to buy a swim suit, which I think I look pretty funny in, but oh well.

What's next:
J.P. is about done with working, so hopefully we can get the nursery painted before our trip.
I am also working on planning my sisters wedding shower and bachelorette party, so that will keep me busy.
Finally, I am getting my first student at work for 3 months!

20 Weeks

I thought I would do this blog so our family and friends can stay updated on our lives as we become parents. Hope you all enjoy!

I am officially at 20 weeks pregnant and cannot wait to meet our little boy John Steven Price. He will be the 6th generation John in J.P.'s family and Steven is after my dad. We will probably call him Jack after J.P.'s grandfather. It is pretty awesome that we are able to continue to pass on family names with are little one.

Jack is due on April 18, but hopefully he will make his appearance sooner. As many of you know, my sister Cari will be getting married to Kyle on April 21. Either way, it should be a fun, stressful, but exciting month!

Since finding out I was pregnant, I made a "Pre-Baby To-Do List". So far, we have crossed off everything but 2 items! We have even decided on a nursery theme and we have a crib we bought on Black Friday! We found a wonderful lady to make custom prints of our dogs, I will include the proof so you can see! J.P. is hoping to finish painting the nursery by the end of the month.
