The first week of February has had its ups and downs. To make it easier, I am going to write day by day.

We lost a very important and wonderful person in the Price family on February 1. Grandma Shirley Price left this earth to go home to be with the Lord after years of suffering from dementia. She was a wonderful person who was the definition of a servant leader and a Christian. She always put others first and had one of the biggest hearts I have ever seen. I am so glad that I was able to get to know her, and even though I only knew her for 5 or so years, she left a huge impression on me.

My sister came into town this weekend, so I was able to have dinner with her and my parents on Thursday night while J.P. was in Arkansas for work. This was the first time Cari had seen me really pregnant, so I think it made it real for her. She was able to feel Jack move, which kind of freaked her out a bit, but I think she still thought it was pretty cool. It was fun to have dinner with just my immediate family!

We had our annual awards banquet for my work on Friday Night. It was a culinary theme so a local culinary school did all the cooking and even demonstrated some cooking techniques. It is always fun hanging out with coworkers outside of work.

On Saturday, it was a day dedicated to my wonderful sister Cari. As many of you know, she is getting married on April 21 (3 days after my due date) to a wonderful guy named Kyle McMillian. The first event was a "gift card" shower (since they live in AZ) that was put on by our family friend Pam Ayers along with a lot of help from Kyle's sister and mom, my mom, and me, a little. It had to be held at a venue because we had to combine 2 showers and have 1 big one (this was the last weekend Cari could come into town before the wedding). Pam did a wonderful job with planning and decorating and it was a great turn out. Our cousin KT even got to come in from Iowa! Cari got a ton of gift cards and should be able to buy everything that she needs to start her new chapter in her life.

Later that night, we had Cari's bachelorette party. We all met at a hotel for beer and pizza, then went to Funky Town. For those of you who do not know what Funky Town is, it is a dance club/bar that has a 70s and 80s theme. When you first get there, you have to walk down a hallway of clocks to symbolize going back in time. Once you get to the main part of the bar, everything is done in neon and black lights. At 9 PM, an astronaut comes in, turns on the lights to the city (the buildings actually dance on the walls) and lets people know it is time to dance. We had a front row seat to the dance floor, so I was very entertained the entire night just people watching. My mom hung out for most of the night and I think she really had a great time as well. It was great to see and spend time with Cari and all of her friends.

J.P.'s company had their annual Kansas City meeting earlier this week. On Sunday, we picked up 2 of his coworkers from the airport and then went to his boss' house to watch the Super Bowl. It had been about a month since I saw most of his coworkers, and even longer since I could hang out with his boss, wife, and their kids, so it was great to see them! The game was a good game and their was a lot of good food! I even was able to go over to my parent's house and hang out with my sister, parents, and cousin even more. Monday, the Fundraising University family got together again to eat dinner. We are really lucky that J.P. works for such a great company and has such great coworkers!

Grandma Shirley's memorial service was on Tuesday night in Topeka. It was a really beautiful service and J.P. did a great job reading the obituary and talking about the many memories he had of his grandmother. At the end of the service, they played a recording of J.P.'s grandfather singing "How Great Thou Art" from about 15 years ago. There was not a dry eye in the place and it was neat for me to hear Grandpa John. Everyone always compares J.P. to Grandpa John, so it was neat to hear similarities in their voices.
Well has been the past week! A lot of ups and downs, pretty busy, and it is good to get back to a "normal" schedule.
As far as my pregnancy, I am still feeling really good. We are 30 weeks along, so we get to meet out little boy in 10 weeks of less! Our next ultrasound is next week to see if he has turned and to check on his kidneys again. We finally got our pictures hung in the nursery, so I will leave you with a picture.
